Viral TikTok sees Annabelle the ‘haunted’ doll being transported

On August 7, TikTok user @ghostdude1 posted a now-viral video to the social media platform of him carrying Annabelle the doll along with a number of other “haunted” items from the Warren Occult Museum to Monroe. .

The man behind the viral TikTok, which has racked up nearly 400,000 views, is Eric Vitale, a paranormal researcher with the New England Society For Psychic Research. The organization was founded by famous paranormal researchers and residents of Monroe Ed and Lorraine Warren in 1952.

“I think it’s safe to say we’re in the most haunted van in the world right now considering what’s behind us,” Vitale said in the video. Vitale said he was driving with about “a dozen” items from Warren’s Occult Museum.

Users took to the comments to express their reluctance to see “haunted” objects moving. Comments ranged from “No one should move them” and “Where are you taking them?” to “I’m in Seymour, don’t even drive here” and “Does this job come with hazard pay?”

Another series of videos on Vitale’s account show Annabelle being taken out of her holster inside the Monroe Museum. A video shows the dog handler reciting the Christian Lord’s Prayer and washing his hands with holy water before handling Annabelle.

According to Tony Spera, co-director of NESPR, curator of Warren’s Occult Museum and son-in-law of the Warrens, the videos provide insight into the precautions needed to move these objects.

“The portable case needed some upgrades (reinforcement) for the trip to Mohegan Sun Casino in October – for our Paracon,” Spera said in an email. “We wanted to make sure the suitcase is totally safe and secure for its journey.”

Warren’s Seekers of the Supernatural Paracon will take place at the Earth Ballroom inside Mohegan Sun on Saturday, October 29. The event will feature a number of paranormal speakers and special guests, but the main draw is an opportunity to view artifacts from Warren’s Occult Museum, including Annabelle the Doll.

For those concerned Annabelle may be moved, NESPR lead investigator Chris Gillorean said there was nothing to worry about as they have taken her on several other occasions.

“We also understand that people are worried about us moving Annabelle. People don’t have to worry. We’ve taken extra care with all of the objects. They’re all blessed and they’re still being blessed on a regular basis at the museum.” Gillorean said in an interview in May. “When we move here we will take even more precautions. We have a priest who is with the group and he will be there to bless the items once they are here, before they leave and in the car. We we are not stingy with holy water either.

Spera said Annabelle’s physically moved TikToks from case to case was part of a longer series of videos made by the YouTube channel, ‘Overnight,’ which has more than 1.5 million subscribers. . Spera said he invited the YouTubers to the museum after asking to take a tour and survey the museum.

“Moving the doll – or touching the doll – is a rare occurrence for us,” Spera said. “But we felt it was necessary to show the public what is involved when we have to.”

Spera detailed the next steps needed to manipulate Annabelle, taught to her by Ed Warren.

“First, my assistant and I are blessed by a priest, and the doll and the two enclosures are also blessed. Then, ritual bonding prayers are said over the doll and the enclosure. Dan Rivera, my assistant, then dipped her hands in holy water, and put on thick gloves. Then the doll was quickly transferred from one crate to another,” Spera said. “Ed Warren explained to me that it is best never to ‘touch the doll with your bare hands’ as this will allow the evil aura attached to the doll to ‘mix’ with the human aura – which is a dangerous situation.”

“We don’t know if the doll still contains any evil attachments or demonic influence,” Spera said.
