The female-led festival will also see Miraa May, Darkoo, Shaybo and Dreya Mac performing on August 19 and 20 in Sweden.
Featured by Notion alumni, Stefflon Don, and Nigerian afropop artist of the moment, Ayra Starr, the Ladieslovehipop festival is set to bring together some of the biggest and best artists in hip-hop, R&B, soul and pan-African music and DJs in Sweden.
Taking place in Fållan and Slakthusområdet on August 19 and 20, the festival was organized by creative collective Ladieslovehiphop, in partnership with Live Nation Sweden and Luger.
Female musical talent is often underrepresented in festival programming. Every year, fans and artists express their disappointment at well-known festivals that again charge for predominantly male artists. Ladieslovehiphop wanted to change that and create a female-led festival that truly showcases the immense female talent in the hip-hop, R&B, soul and pan-African genres.
Along with Stefflon Don and Ayra Starr, Baby Tate from Atlanta will perform at the Ladieslovehiphop festival. British drill star Ivorian Doll and ‘Queen of the South’ Shaybo will also perform throughout the two-day festival, as will R&B artist Ojerime.
The Ladieslovehiphop festival also promises to bring some of the hottest female talent to their stages, including viral sensation Dreya Mac, rap artist Cristale, Swedish Grammy-nominated artist/DJ Nápoles and rising R&B/ British jazz Jaz Karis.
Along with fantastic performers on three stages, Ladieslovehiphop Festival will feature vegetarian food stalls, and art installations and exhibitions, with each evening ending with DJ sets from South African sensation amapiano, Uncle Waffles, British “Queen of RnB Edit”, Jordss.
Speaking about the festival, the founders of the Ladieslovehiphop collective, Nataša Marijana and Rebecca Tegegne, said: “It’s amazing to finally have a real summer festival after the last two years. We’ve curated a selection of artists and DJs that we really love and believe our community is thrilled to see perform. We will transform Stockholm’s meatpacking district into an indoor and outdoor festival area where our visitors can enjoy concerts during the day and dance the night away to DJ sets”.
