‘Possessed’ rag doll leaves paranormal investigators ‘scared for the first time’ after causing chaos and injury in their home

Husband and wife team of paranormal investigators claim their Annabelle Raggedy Ann doll is “possessed”, after attacking one of them and knocking over their Ouija table.

Lee and Linzi Steer, who run the Haunted Objects Museum from their home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, say their Annabelle – an identical copy of a notoriously evil rag doll in the United States that inspired the films of horror The Conjuring – left them “scared for the first time.”

Now Lee, 36, and Linzi, 52, both of whom are investigating supernatural events full-time, fear further retaliation from the toy which they say caused them to narrowly miss the crash as well. while he was in the car.

Linzi, who says their fascination with the supernatural accelerated their romance when she and Lee met online five years ago, said: “What we saw the other night when she was threw the Oujia table or the spirit table was quite scary.

“It was October 24, which was the second anniversary of his arrival.

“She comes from the same factory and is a twin if you want the real Annabelle who inspired the evil doll in The Conjuring.”

Now kept in a museum for the occult, the American Annabelle doll gained notoriety in the 1970s after it was purchased as a child’s toy, when it is claimed that it began to attack people.

“We didn’t know our Annabelle was possessed when she came into our lives,” Linzi said.

“It was given to us by a fan who thought she was just a replica of the American Annabelle doll, we didn’t know she was so haunted.”

She added: “But there is no denying that there is something powerful about her.”

Linzi, who first saw a ghost 25 years ago when she was alone one day at the dressmaker where she worked and saw a woman with curly hair “like Vera Duckworth of Coronation Street” watching her, before to go through a closed door, fears that Annabelle may wish her ill.

She said: “Even when I saw my first ghost at the seamstress, I felt calm rather than scared.”

She added, “I grew up watching all kinds of aliens and ghosts, so I’ve always been interested in the paranormal, rather than scared of it.

“But some of Annabelle’s actions scare me.

“Our Anabelle was made in the exact same factory as the US plant, so it’s like its twin.”

Linzi credits the doll with two near misses while driving with Annabelle in the car, as well as a mysterious illness.

She said: “I had two near misses while Annabelle was in the car with me in October 2019, right after she arrived.

“In the first one, a white van almost hit the side of the car and I was forced to pull off the road. In the other, I was on a roundabout. I kind of pulled back and then another car pulled out pretty quickly in front of me.

She added, “Then my mouth filled with an abscess and I got strangely sick. I just had these horrible stomach pains.

“I couldn’t keep anything and even went to the hospital for test after test, but they didn’t find anything wrong.”

Then, on October 24 – the second anniversary of their acquisition of Annabelle – Linzi swears that the enraged rag doll has struck again.

The museum, which the couple who married on Halloween 2019 opened in March 2018, after being inundated with paranormal curiosities by some of the two million fans who follow their paranormal activities on Facebook, is also home to Elizabeth, the doll. the most possessed in the world. . “

Fearing that Annabelle was jealous of Elizabeth’s attention, Linzi said, “On the second anniversary of her arrival, I was watching Celebrity Coach Trip.

“I wanted to see it while Elizabeth was on it and suddenly I felt a pain in my right arm, like a stinging sensation.”

She added, “I looked down and my arm was bleeding. I couldn’t believe it, but I knew right away it was Annabelle. I wonder if she was jealous.

Then, later that same night, the heavy metal Ouija table – used for spirit contact sessions – was knocked over.

“We have a Ouija table that visitors can use,” Linzi said.

She added: “Annabelle was sitting in the room watching her and she suddenly flipped over and fell to the floor.

“It was in the middle of a visitors’ session and they called us, so we watched the CCTV and couldn’t believe our eyes. It was definitely Annabelle forcing the table, because no one was touching her.

“I mean it’s solid metal, there’s no way it’s turning on its own.”

She added: “When we arrived the next day to assess the damage, it was clear that something paranormal had happened.

“The metal was warped and the base had come loose from the fixings. There was no way it was an accident or a coincidence.

And it wasn’t the first time the couple believed Annabelle had used the board to express her anger.

Linzi said, “We were doing a Ouija when Annabelle first arrived.

“Basically, spirits are communicating with you and we were sitting with Annabelle when a voice said to us, ‘I’m going to kill you. “

“We never blessed the museum or anything like that, because it always felt safe, but now we think it has something to do with Annabelle.”

She added: “At the moment, however, I think her anger is definitely stemming from Elizabeth’s jealousy.

“When my arm was burnt I think it was her who said we should do more with her and get her out more.

“I think we absolutely need to give it some dust and some attention now!” “

Lee, whose interest in the supernatural was aroused at the age of 20, when a variety of objects in his house mysteriously flew off the shelves and a strange hand and footprints appeared on her window, agrees that they must appease their angry doll.

Usually not the type to react emotionally to the unexplained, he is very scientific about their paranormal investigations – using equipment to detect electromagnetic fields, thermodynamic monitors to search for strange heat sources, and radio devices to facilitate communication.

But Annabelle left even this seasoned ghost hunter feeling pissed off.

He said: “I felt a little nervous going back to the museum.

“It’s dangerous what happened, it made us very uncomfortable. I showed the pictures to friends and they couldn’t believe she had bent the metal like jelly.

“I think we’ll put Annabelle in her own case to make things safer.”
