Juanita Jo ‘Baby Doll’ Slack McDuffie | Obituary

Juanita Jo “Baby Doll” Slack McDuffie, 82, of Blackshear, died on Saturday morning December 11, 2021 at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Booneville, MS on February 2, 1939, she had lived in Pierce County since 1969. She was retired from Julie Hat where she had been a seamstress for 17 years. She had spent the last few years being a housewife. She loved flowers, sewing, doing all sorts of crafts, doing crossword puzzles, decorating cakes (when she was a bit younger) and even riding a motorcycle (before her health started to decline). She was a faithful member of Walkerville Baptist Church where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday School class.

She was the daughter of the late Wilburn Arlis and the late Lenora Irene Smith Slack. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Allison Wade “Al” McDuffie; one granddaughter, Bonita Gail Dial; his sister, Wilma Lee Rogers and by two brothers, Wilburn Slack and Delbert Ray Slack.

Survivors include his daughter and partner, Dana Dial and Darlene Howell, Blackshear; three sons, Jimmy and Wanda McDuffie, Clyo and Gary and Brenda McDuffie and Terry McDuffie, all of Blackshear; one brother, Edwin Monroe (Sandy) Slack, Lakeland, FL; 11 grandchildren, Caleb (Kadie) McDuffie, Sam McDuffie (Clint Easton), Amanda (Keith) Womack, Tanya (Phillip) Roberson, Michael (Brittany) McDuffie, Garrett McDuffie (Kayla Peterson), Anthony (Nikki) Howell, Tracey Stone, Alisha (Jamie) Mixon, Ashlee McDuffie and Cheyenne McDuffie (Christian Peacock); 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special friends, his Walkerville Baptist Church family and the Moore family and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday, December 13 at Walkerville Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13 at Walkerville Baptist Church.

Interment will be in Walkerville Cemetery.

The family is asking members of the Senior Adult Sunday School class as well as employees of the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office to serve as honorary pallbearers. See you Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the church.
