BRITNEY Spears needs to break free from her old-fashioned pop princess image given her age and new life, a celebrity stylist has claimed.
But she claims the singer won’t because she’s chained to her difficult past.
“In the industry, Britney’s style is considered ‘Pop’ or ‘Bubblegum’ style, which worked well for her in her early twenties, but now, as a 40-year-old woman, it’s just silly,” says the celebrity stylist, Amanda Sander.
“It’s like she’s not facing the present and could psychologically be stuck in the past.
“I really think Britney should have had a renaissance before guardianship was born, but the clock seemed to have stopped at a certain age, and she did not pass it.
“I think it’s because of the psychological trauma she suffered from her father, and because she didn’t have her freedom as an adult, she’s trapped as a young doll. , pretty pop star.”
It was last November when by Britney The 13-year-old’s conservatorship was ended by a judge and had included strict controls over his personal life and career.
Britney then married longtime partner Sam Asghari, signed a $15 million book deal and collaborated on a single outing with Elton John.
But while the Baby One More Time singer seems to be enjoying her new found freedom in her luxury Calabasas home, her ’90s-type fashion style seems to be locked in the past.
“Half of Britney’s Instagram posts are about her dancing, then half of her posts are about her striptease.
“It’s like she’s still looking for the attention she needs as a young pop star,” Amanda says.
“I don’t think that has gone away and in real life Britney hasn’t identified with getting older.”
“Her hair is still the same and doesn’t look professionally or modernly styled, even though she’s been physically in great shape for 40 years,” adds Amanda.
“In nude photos, I think as a mother you wouldn’t want that exposure – one photo is fine on the beach, but taking them endlessly is in bad taste.
“If not, she really should find a stylist to give her a contemporary look.”
FEUDING IN FRILLONS
Hitmaker Lucky shot to fame in the late 90s and is just as well known today for his scintillating pop-infused stage appearances as he is for his music.
In her 1998 debut track, Hit Me Baby One More Time, Britney wore a white schoolgirl shirt and schoolgirl outfit with her hair styled in braids and pink ribbons.
In the early 2000s, Britney’s personal life started making headlines after her split from pop star, Justin Timberlake, her life was reportedly thrown into chaos.
In 2003, she released the single Everytime from her fourth studio album as rumors began to circulate that she had cheated on him.
This time in the video, she wore a white school shirt similar to Baby One More Time, but Britney’s long blonde hair was loose and flowing.
Britney’s life then turned into a whirlwind of controversy as she battled substance abuse issues, with her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston going to live with their father, Kevin Federline.
In 2007, Britney’s return to the MTV Video Music Awards was criticized after she appeared on stage dressed as a stripper and mimed her new single.
Today, the star’s struggles and personal feuds appear to continue, with Britney speaking out online against her father Jamie, 70, and mother Lynne Spears, 67.
Her Instagram feed also continues to be filled with images and videos of her in either her full or undressed state.
And many of her clothes resemble those she wore when she was younger – like cropped tops and skirts and ruffled dresses.
One of Britney’s professional successes during her conservatorship was her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood from 2013 to 2017 during which she performed back-to-back concerts.
“Someone could come and style her with looks that cross the seasons and also offer her something more sophisticated,” explains Amanda.
“I think part of her difficulty is that her residence in Vegas also rubs her off, because it’s an imaginary fairy-tale world, where people only usually visit.
“The other issue is also affordability as Britney previously had a fashion budget of $2,000 and that would impact her spending which she had grown accustomed to.
“Otherwise, her fans are more sophisticated now and the younger generation don’t know her either.
“Her audience today is in her 30s, 40s and 50s and so won’t be interested in tank tops, her visible midriff and tube tops.
“I think Britney really needs a professional to help her with her style and clothes, but that’s what she’s used to and she doesn’t know any better either.”
“Britney needs someone to say, OK, it’s time to get well,” Amanda adds.
“Everyone loves to see a comeback, but the style change is always the ultimate.”
