When you think of all the scary characters from horror movies, Chucky the Doll is probably one of the most unsettling villains that come to mind. The killer toy made its first appearance in the 1988 film Child’s play and has since manifested itself in nightmares (not to mention sequels and reboot movies). But for an unsuspecting group of people in one Alabama neighborhood, the horror movie has gone from the big screen to real life. They saw what appeared to be a life-size Chucky doll crawling down the sidewalk – and it was terrifying!
Kendra Walden and two other women were in a car when they first spotted Chucky. “I was renovating a house in the area and me and some of my employees were coming home from that house,” she said. That’s when they saw Chucky. Walden, at first, thought she was seeing things. It couldn’t be real, could it? “When we got close to him, we saw it was real. It scared us.”
The trio started “screaming like little kids” but they worked up the courage to turn around and get a better look at Chucky. It was then that they discovered that the doll was actually a 5-year-old boy. “When we went around (the boy) had taken his mask off, but quickly put it back on and walked across the street after we passed,” Walden explained. “We turned around and that’s where we got the pictures.”
Walden took three photos and shared them on Facebook with an accompanying caption: “Dear parents of the little boy in the chucky costume at Pinson. GET YOUR CHILD.…I almost had a heart attack. The fun and surreal images have gone viral, garnering over 16,000 comments and counting. The boy’s mother also saw the photos, and so the mystery of Chucky’s identity is solved with a few laughs (from others) along the way.
